Baton Rouge, LA (NBC33) — The East Baton Rouge Public School System will hold a series of public forums to discuss the input it received on the subject of regional attendance zones.
The first meeting will be tonight at 6:30 p.m. at Capitol Elementary School, 4141 Gus Young Ave.
The plan being discussed in tonight's meeting would turn Belfair, Capitol, Claiborne, Howell Park, Park and Winbourne elementary schools; Capitol Middle; Capitol High; the Career Academy; and CSAL into a single school zone. Parents who live near those schools would be able to choose any of them for their children.
Three other regional attendance zones are also being planned.
The topic was first discussed in a series of public forums in November and December. School administrators want to share the results of the four earlier meetings to further refine the idea.
The meetings will take place:
- Wednesday, January 23, 6:30 p.m., at Capitol Elementary School
- Thursday, January 24, 6:00 p.m., at Glen Oaks High School
- Thursday, January 31, 6:00 p.m., at Scotlandville Magnet High School
- Tuesday, February 5, 6:00 p.m., at Southeast Middle School
