NBC NATIONAL NEWS — For just the second time in U.S. history, the presidential inauguration intersects with Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
King's bible was used for swearing in President Obama, along with Abraham Lincoln's bible.
King's daughter, Bernice King, reacted to the overlap of the inauguration and MLK Day today.
"Well I think first and foremost, the fact that the President is using daddy's bible is heartwarming for me because my father was first and foremost a preacher - he was a pastor - and so, it reminds people of that,” stated King. “That's one of the things I'm going to stress today - that we must remember the pastor and the preacher, Martin Luther King Jr.”
Along with the worn and frayed pages, King's bible is filled with handwritten notes from the civil service leader.
