NBC News — A German ship carrying Patriot missile equipment arrived at a Turkish port monday, as part of an international effort to stop the violence in Syria from spilling over its borders. The Netherlands, Germany and the United States are each sending two Patriot missile batteries and up to 400 troops to Turkey.
The move comes after Turkey asked for NATO's help to bolster security along its 560 mile border with Syria. Turkey is a NATO member. The Turkish-Syria border has become a point of tension in the 22 month insurgency against embattled President Bashar al-Assad, with Syrian government shells and rockets frequently landing inside Turkish territory.
