Shreveport, LA (KMSS) — A Shreveport woman is behind bars after tipsters lead authorities to his doorsteps.
On January 17, police took Ashleigh Phillips, 22, of Shreveport, into custody for allegedly burglarizing a vehicles last week. Law enforcement became aware of her reported involvement following tips through Crime Stoppers.
Back on January 11, officers were dispatched to a vehicle burglary after the victim called 911. While looking through her car, she noticed her wallet along with other items had disappeared. When the victim called to cancel her credit cards, she was told her card had been used at a local store. Investigators were able to get surveillance footage from the business where the card was used and posted the image of the alleged suspect on the Crime Stoppers website.
After the picture were placed online, Crime Stoppers received several calls leading them to Phillips, who was found in the 9000 block of Youree Drive, where she was arrested. An investigation was launched and detectives were able to find the victim's stolen items inside Phillips home.
The accused burglar was also connected to a handful of other crimes on the night of the initial burglary. Following interviews, Phillips was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on vehicle burglary, forgery and possession of a legend drug. Additional charges may be added at a later date.
