PLAQUEMINES PARISH, LA — A 29-year-old woman has been arrested in Plaquemines Parish on multiple charges, including having sexual relations with a minor and providing marijuana to minors.
On Monday, January 14, the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Bureau initiated a criminal investigation after the mother of two siblings came forward and disclosed that she believed a family friend was having sexual intercourse with one of her sons, as well as providing marijuana to two of her sons. The victims are currently 17 and 15 years of age. The sexual intercourse occurred when the 17-year-old was 16 years of age.
The investigation revealed that the suspect began having sexual relations with the then 16 year old victim during the summer of 2012 and began smoking marijuana with both victims around the same time. The suspect provided both victims with marijuana and access to it. On several occasions, when the suspect was out of marijuana she would take the then 16-year-old victim with her to purchase marijuana and bring it back to her residence where all three of them smoked the illegal drug.
Sheriff’s Office Detectives obtained statements from the victims, which corroborated the illegal behavior reported by their mother. Detectives then obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect.
Detectives located and arrested the suspect at her residence. She was transported to the Belle Chasse Criminal Investigations Bureau for an interview. During the interview, the suspect confessed to having a sexual relationship with the then 16-year-old victim. Additionally, the suspect admitted to allowing the brothers to smoke marijuana in her residence, as well as provided the older brother with money to purchase marijuana and that she often brought him to purchase it.
The suspect was transported to the Belle Chasse Lockup, where she was booked with Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile, Sexual Battery, Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile, Molestation of a Juvenile and two counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor. The suspect remains in custody in lieu of a $65,000 bond.
The Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office is not releasing the identity of the suspect in order to protect the identity of the victims.
