LAFAYETTE, LA (NBC33) — An alleged intoxicated driver crashed his vehicle in a most unusual way. When emergency responders made it to the scene, they found the vehicle suspended in the air along a utility pole guide wire.
The Lafayette Police Department reports that the crash occurred at roughly 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 15. We’re told the single-vehicle crash was caused by driver Gabriel Andrews, Jr., 22. Officials say he ran off lost control of his vehicle while driving in the 2700 block of Johnston Street.
Rescue workers had to remove Andrews from the vehicle. He was later arrested and charged with OWI. Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of the crash.
