BATON ROUGE, La. (NBC33) — Heavy and prolonged rains prompted the National Weather Service to issue Flood warnings for rivers around south Louisiana.
Minor to major flooding is being reported on the Calcasieu River near Oberlin, La., Calcasieu River near Kinder, La., Calcasieu River near Oakdale, La., Calcasieu River near Glenmora, La., Calcasieu River near Old Town Bay, La., Bayou Cocodrie near Clearwater, La. Whisky Chitto Creek near Mittie, La., Bayou Nezpique at Basile, La., Bayou Des Cannes near Eunice, La., Mermentau River at Mermentau, La., Bayou Vermilion near Carencro, La., Vermilion River at Lafayette - Surrey Street, Amite River at Bayou Manchac, La., Amite River at Denham Springs, La., Amite River at Port Vincent, La., Tangipahoa River at Robert, La., and Tchefuncte River near Covington, La.

They recommend: "Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross safely. A Flood Warning meant that flooding is imminent or occurring."
