CROWLEY, LA (NBC33) — Roughly 20 residents in Crowley had to leave their homes today due to continued flooding issues.
The Crowley Police Department reports that several neighborhoods in the area are currently experiencing high water flooding that’s intruding into or close to homes.
On Thursday, Jan. 10, the Louisiana National Guard was called out to help residents experiencing flooding from the first round of heavy rain that passed through the area. Now, all that water is continuing to push its way toward doorsteps.
Officials say four roads are currently closed due to flooding:
- Parkerson Avenue from 15th Street to I-10
- Stutes Addition is closed due to flooding
- Clark Place Subdivision is closed due to flooding
- Northern Avenue near Conrad Road and Capitol Avenue
“We cannot stress enough the importance of staying away from the flooded areas as many residents are trying to keep water from going into their residents. If you are not a resident of these areas stay away,” a representative from the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office, said.
If you are a resident experiencing flooding at your home and need assistance, call 911.
