BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Monday night’s BCS Championship game MVP Eddie Lacy announced he’ll skip his senior season at Alabama and enter the NFL draft.
The former Dutchtown standout scored two touchdowns in the Tide’s 42-14 win over Notre Dame. Lacy is projected to be one of the first five running backs selected in the April draft. He will join his former high school teammate at Dutchtown, Eric Reid, as the first players to be drafted from the Geismar school.
"I felt that I've accomplished all the goals that the team and myself had set out to accomplish and understanding that now is the right time to make the move to the National Football League,” Lacy said Friday in a press conference in Alabama.
