Baton Rouge, La — Baton Rouge will soon join dozens of U.S. cities by serving up its very first Restaurant Week. This week-long event scheduled for January 14-19, 2013 will feature some of the city’s best restaurants who come together to offer special meals at big discounts and provide much-needed cash to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank.
Restaurants will offer 3-course meals which generally include an appetizer, entrée and dessert at fixed prices from $15-$35 per person. The offers will reflect a substantial discount from regular menu pricing in hopes of enticing new customers and showing appreciation to existing ones.
“We are thrilled to be bringing such a great event to Baton Rouge, whose culture is highly reflected in the local food scene. If you love to eat out, this is the week to put on your calendar,” said Wayne Lewis Publisher of Dig Magazine.
A few of the restaurants already signed up include: The Little Village, The Camelot Club, Tallulah Crafted Food & Wine Bar, The Chimes, Tsunami Sushi, Stroubes, Mike Anderson’s, Bin 77 Bistro & Wine Bar and The Melting Pot.
Organizers expect to have more than two dozen restaurants signed up for the first installment.
“Stroubes is very excited to participate in Restaurant Week. This will be a unique opportunity to give guests a great deal while still getting top notch food. We are also glad to be able to support the Baton Rouge Food Bank through an event such as this” said Eric Carnegie, General Manager.
The Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank will receive a $5,000 cash donation for each of the bi-annual Restaurant Weeks held in January and July.
“The Food Bank truly appreciates the opportunity to benefit from Restaurant Week Baton Rouge and to have partners like DIG Magazine and all of the supporting restaurants join us in our fight against hunger. This $5,000 donation will provide 35,000 meals for those in need in our 11-parish service area,” said Mike Manning, president and chief executive officer of the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank.
