ACADIA PARISH, LA (NBC33) — Support from the Louisiana National Guard is currently ongoing in Acadia and Avoyelles Parish.
Officials say high-water military vehicles have been brought in to help assist residents to evacuate the area as needed. So far no mandatory evacuations have been issued.
Local Soldiers and vehicles from the 225th Engineer Brigade in Marksville, La., and the 256th Infantry Brigade Combat Team in Crowley, La., are currently conducting operations in the affected areas. Several subdivisions in that area  are reporting water coming into homes.
Areas across the state have seen anywhere from 5 to 10 inches of rain. River levels currently show the Vermilion River to be in the most immediate danger of continued flooding, which would impact areas from Carencro to Lafayette.
