BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — The Metro Council voted and approved the contract from the city-parish to purchase of the old Woman’s Hospital.
The empty hospital will be renovated and turned into a new law enforcement headquarters for the Baton Rouge Police Department and Sheriff’s Office. Including both agencies in the new space is intended to improve communication.
“The facility provides adequate space for the police department and the sheriff's office,” Chief Dewayne White, Baton Rouge Police Department, said. “Because we are working closely together, it now allows us to work even more closely together."
NBC33’s David Lippman was at that meeting. He will have more on what’s going to happen next on NBC33 News at 6:30 and 10:00.
