BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — A slow moving storm system passing through south Louisiana has created the potential for flash flooding. The threat has even prompted the closure of some area schools.
The worst of the storm is expected to push through on Wednesday, Jan. 9 with thunderstorms continuing through Thursday. A possible 3 to 6 inches of rain is expected.
The Iberia, St. Mary, St. Martin Parish, and St. Bernard Parish schools have canceled classes for Wednesday. Central Private Schools and Southland Christian Academy in Denham Springs are also closed. So far no other closures have been reported.
