BATON ROUGE, LA — Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre will welcome Nashville Ballet, American Ballet Theatre and Joffrey San Antonio dance companies in January and February to audition local dancers for their highly-respected 2013 summer intensive programs.
Summer intensives are an extraordinary opportunity for local dancers to study under the supervision of some of the most elite dance instructors in the country and explore dance in a fresh perspective. Each year Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre brings celebrated dance companies to Baton Rouge to audition not only local dancers but also regional dancers who travel to Baton Rouge in hope of attaining a coveted spot in a summer intensive program.
The audition dates are as follows: Nashville Ballet, Saturday, January 12, 2013; American Ballet Theatre, Saturday, January 27, 2013; Joffrey San Antonio, Saturday, February 2, 2013. All auditions are open to the public and will be held at Dancers’ Workshop, 10745 Linkwood Court.
Audition applicants must pay a registration fee and submit a photograph showing first arabesque in center in order to register. Each company has a specific set of dance level requirements.

American Ballet Theatre is recognized as one of the great dance companies in the world, according to its website. Joffrey Workshop San Antonio’s distinguished faculty and staff aim to educate and develop advanced level dancers with professional dance education. Former Joffrey Ballet Company principal dancers will instruct Joffrey Workshop San Antonio students in classic ballet technique, contemporary, pas de deux and character dance in addition to hosting dance career-related seminars, lectures and repertory rehearsals.
