BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Good news for those who use public transportation in Baton Rouge: A new GPS system is almost completely installed in all of CATS' buses.
Once the project is complete passengers will know exactly how far away their bus is. It will also tell them how long it will take for the buses to get to them. CATS is ready to rollout an app so riders can have all the information on their smart phones.
CATS passengers say this technology is something that's long overdue.
"It's an update that the bus system has been needing for quite some time,” Bradford J. Williams, CATS rider, said. “It actually can save time for the ladies behind the counter and for the customers who ride the bus system in Baton Rouge as well."
The GPS is being paid for with money from a tax approved by voters in Baton Rouge and Baker last year.
