Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — BRAVE officers are planning on doing "sweeps" through the 70805 zip code.
It's the latest in a step to reduce crime in one of the most dangerous parts of Baton Rouge. The sweeps are expected to start around February.
District Attorney Hillar Moore says the goal of these sweeps is to send a message to criminals.
"This is a new day. We'll be doing things differently, and we remind them whenever they come to the call in that sweep, it was for a particular purpose,” said Moore. “We came to you for a particular reason, and now we're serious about what we're going to do and we're going to follow through with it."
About two weeks after these sweeps, the BRAVE program will do call-ins, which involves bringing in criminals and telling them to stop breaking the law or else they'll go to prison.
The BRAVE program started back in May.
