LAFAYETTE, LA (NBC33) — A man was charged with his third DWI after he allegedly attempted to outrun police in a stolen vehicle. It all ended with a crash on Highway 90.
On Wednesday, Jan. 2, Rayne Police received information of a stolen vehicle which was spotted by patrol officers on Highway 90 near Martin Petitjean School. When police attempted to stop the vehicle, it took off at a high rate of speed.
Officers from Rayne and Acadia Parish were in pursuit as the suspect crossed an overpass on Highway 90, attempted to pass another vehicle, lost control and hit a ditch. The driver arrested is Sean Wilder, 25, of Rayne.
Wilder is charged with Driving Under Suspension, Wreckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Aggravated Flight from an Officer, and DWI (third offense). The Louisiana State Police have charged Wilder with Careless Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
