BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — LSU football fans have a hangover worse than anything champagne on New Year's could have caused. That feeling came after they blew a double digit fourth quarter lead to Clemson. And how that happened has them questioning head coach Les Miles’ strategy at the end of the game.
"We had the game in the bag and the opportunity to run the clock out with a great running back in Jeremy Hill and a good offensive line that we could have challenged to make that push and win the game for us and we didn't end up doing that," states Williamson.
Other fans though weren't shocked the Tigers blew the eleven point lead. It's a pattern they've seen before.
"Kind of disappointed, but not really surprised. After the Alabama game anything can happen this year," says LSU fan Matt Lindsly.
That's true both on and off the field for this year's squad. From Tyrann Mathieu getting arrested on drug charges to punter Brad Wing getting suspended for the Chick Fil A Bowl, it seems like nothing went smoothly for the now 10-3 Tigers.
"Obviously a lot of distraction with the honey badger and all that, but I think it's overall like the Saints situation. I think they put it together, had a great season. All you can do is build for the future,” says ex-NFL player Art Moore.
A future that Tiger fans believe looks bright, even after the ups and downs of this season.
"I think there's a national championship in the future," states Moore.
