BATON ROUGE (WVLA) - State Treasurer John Kennedy is calling the state's $26 billion budget "fiscally irresponsible."
In a meeting Monday afternoon, Kennedy said lawmakers missed their chance to fix Louisiana's growing financial problems.
"We have managed to make the United States Congress look fiscally responsible, and I didn't think it was possible," said Kennedy.
The State Treasurer says Louisiana could save up to $800 million a year if vacant state positions are eliminated.
