LAFAYETTE, LA — Lafayette Parish Sheriffs Deputies are investigating two incidents that occurred within 24 hours of each other at the same business.
On Wednesday a 36 year old male was washing his car at the carwash in the 100 block of Teurlings Drive when he was approached by 2 black males who were in a newer model red sedan. One of the men asked the victim for spare change and then pulled a handgun demanding all of the victim's cash. The two suspects fled in the red car with an undetermined amount of cash and some personal checks.
On Thursday a deputy patrolling the area of the same carwash observed a black male wearing a light colored hoodie and a pair of denim shorts
running from the business with a hand bag. The deputy further noted a 63 year old female screaming that the man had stolen her purse. The
deputy gave chase but the suspect was able to elude capture. Further investigation revealed that the suspect had approached the lady while
she was vacuuming her car produced a handgun and demanded her money.
The victim gave the suspect her purse. During the foot pursuit the suspect dropped the victim's purse and the deputies returned all of the
property to the victim.
Though both incidents occurred in the daytime hours and the suspect's age ranges are similar deputies do not believe the same man committed
both robberies this is based on physical descriptions of the suspects.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Lafayette Crime Stoppers at (337) 232-8477.
