BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — The kitchen of house that was in the process of being remodeled was destroyed by fire early this morning. Investigators are trying to determine what caused the blaze and have not ruled out arson as a possibility.
The Baton Rouge Fire Department was called to a home on Leonidas road shortly after midnight on Friday, Dec. 21. When firefighters arrived they found the kitchen area of the home engulfed in flames. The fire spread to a small portion of the attic before it was contained.
Officials tell us the home was in the process of being remodeled from a previous fire. They say the electricity to the home was cut off and no one was living at the residence.
The damage is estimated at $20,000.
