NBC News — Transportation chaos grips Athens for a second day. Public transit and other public services are closed thursday due to a strike by employees over austerity cuts. As many as 27,000 public service workers are being put on notice for dismissal and will be let go over the next year.
Greece's massive austerity program is needed in order to secure additional funding from an international bailout to keep the country from going bankrupt. International lenders have agreed to release more than $62 billion in rescue funds to Greece by March.
