Lafourche Parish, La — A Thibodaux man was arrested on drug charges after deputies stopped him for operating an off-road dirt bike on the roadway.
David Waguespack Jr., 30, was arrested Friday afternoon following a traffic stop where deputies discovered several narcotics in his possession.
While traveling on St. Charles By-pass Road in Thibodaux, deputies noticed a man riding an off-road dirt bike on the roadway. Deputies initiated a traffic stop and approached the man, later identified as Waguespack, about the violation. The deputies noticed Waguespack seemed nervous and kept putting his hands in his pockets. They had to ask Waguespack several times to remove his hands from his pockets and eventually asked him to place his hands on the hood of the patrol unit. Waguespack refused to comply after several requests. Deputies eventually placed him under arrest due to resisting. Deputies discovered Waguespack had drug paraphernalia and several amounts of suspected narcotics in his possession, including methamphetamine, marijuana, 26 oxycodone pills, 14 Adderall pills, one hydrocodone pill, and one Vyvanse pill. A presumptive field test yielded a positive result on the suspected methamphetamine.
Waguespack was transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux and booked with possession with intent to distribute oxycodone, methamphetamine and Adderall, possession of hydrocodone, Vyvanse and drug paraphernalia, resisting an officer, and operating an off-road vehicle on a public road (RS 32:299). He was released Monday afternoon after posting $17,900 bond.
