NBC News — Palestinians are describing an Israeli decision to build additional settlements in East Jerusalem as quote "unlawful." Israel approved plans on monday to build 1500 more Jewish settler homes in an ultra-orthodox neighborhood.
The move comes just days after Israel provoked international protests against a project for another 3000 homes on land it captured in the 1967 six-day war. Palestinians see the settlements as obstacles to achieving independent statehood. Israeli and Palestinian peace talks have been frozen since late 2010, largely due to a dispute over the settlements.
