MANDEVILLE, LA (NBC33) — Graffiti images are popping up all over Mandeville, and it’s getting some attention. Unfortunately for the artists, it’s from police.
“Graffiti is a public nuisance, which damages property and detracts from the overall quality of life,” Lt. Gerald Sticker, Mandeville Police Department, explained.
Officials say the graffiti has increased over the past few weeks and the primary tags being found include “DERO” and “HAWG.” The areas hit are primarily around the lakefront, including the Mandeville Harbor and the old city yard off Jackson Ave.
Penalties for graffiti include a $500 fine as well as possible jail time, or both.
If you know anything about the graffiti, call the Mandeville Police Department at (985) 626-9711.
