NBC News — Nelson Mandela continues to be treated for a recurring lung infection at a South African hospital. Mandela spent a sixth night in the African Military Hospital, and doctors say he is continuing to respond well to medical treatments.
Earlier this week South Africa's defense minister said that Mandela was doing quote, "very, very well." Officials say the former South African leader may be released later today. Mandela became South Africa's first black president in 1994 and served one five year term.
