WALKER, LA (NBC33) — A memorial has been set up at the site where a 29-year-old woman died yesterday.
On Wednesday, Dec. 12, Laraye London-Phillips was in her van when she tried to cross a railroad track. That's when a train hit her [1] van and dragged for about a quarter mile.
Phillips died at the hospital.
The crossing at Sunland Drive is unmarked, but witnesses said the train was sounding its whistle.
A vigil is planned for Thursday, Dec. 13 at 7:00 p.m. It's set for seven this evening at the Live Oak Ball Park in Denham Springs.
Police said the crash is still under investigation.
The conductor of the train hasn't been cited.
