Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — A software company will bring dozens of jobs to Baton Rouge.
Local Med is a startup that helps patients find doctors and dentists and lets them schedule appointments online.
State officials say Local Med is part of a trend that makes software and digital media the fastest growing industry in the state.
It also got some of its funding through the LSU Student Incubator, which is providing opportunities for high-tech entrepreneurs.
"This is a young people's world today, and we'll gain so much from their innovation and direction,” stated Dr. William Jenkins, LSU System Interim President. “I salute and applaud the investors here today. You're investing in brilliant young minds who look towards a future that many of us don't appreciate or understand yet."
According to Business Facilities Magazine, Louisiana ranks #1 in the country for having the most potential for growth in technology.
