Baton Rouge, La — A would-be carjacker was shot by his intended victim last night.
At around 9:15 p.m., a 40-year-old man ran out of gas in the 2400 block of N. Acadian Thruway West. He called a friend to bring him a can of gas, and while he was refilling his car two young male suspects walked up, one pointing a gun, and demanded his money.
The victim grabbed the suspect’s gun and the two fought over control of the weapon. While fighting the suspect over that gun, the victim managed to get to his own gun inside his car and used it to shoot the suspect in the stomach.
Both suspects then ran away to a friend’s house in the 3200 block of Duke Street. A resident there called police and both suspects were taken into custody by responding officers.
The 17-year-old suspect who was shot is being treated at a local hospital and will be booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison upon his release. His 16-year-old accomplice was placed into the Juvenile Detention Center.
Both are charged with Attempted Armed Robbery.
