SHREVEPORT, LA (KMSS) — A Shreveport man has been arrested following a Saturday morning shooting involving police officer.
Just before 2:00 a.m., officers were called to a disturbance at a house on the 4500 block of Pro Street near Shreveport's Westwood Park subdivision. When authorities arrived, a man was seen running from the back of the house in question.
Unaware of the man's involvement with the call, officers chased after him, during which time the suspect, later identified as Reko Givens, 17, allegedly turned and fired at police several times. Officers returned fire at Givens, but no one was hit.
The gunman, who was able to evade officers for a short time, was caught after officers-- with the assistance of a police dog-- found him at a hotel located in the 4900 block of Greenwood Road.
Once inside the complex, authorities were able to identify Givens as the alleged shooter. Following his arrest, the suspect was taken to the Shreveport City Jail where he was booked on the charge of Attempted First-Degree Murder.
