WALKER,LA(NBC33) — Our Lady of the Lake Livingston hosted a live nativity scene for area families mixing actors and animals to entertain the crowd.
Guests got to listen to the nativity story and christmas carols sung by a choir. Children got up close to the camels and petted the ponies.
Our Lady of the Lake officials say the event helps children and families connect with the nativity story.
"We do it because we share our heritage. St. Francis created the living nativity almost 800 years ago, and so we continue that tradition today," Judy Deshotels, director of mission formation for Our Lady of the Lake Livingston, said. "All the kids loved the animals so it's just a great opportunity to interact with God's creation. Animals always bring joy to everyone."
Staff members and their families served as actors for the nativity scene.
