LUFKIN, TX (KETK) — Two Lufkin Dollar General employees had their hands full Wednesday when they had to try and stop three separate burglaries within a span of seven hours Wednesday.
In the first incident at 9:00 a.m., an employee tried to hold a suspect, later identified as Edward Simon, Jr, 23, who was caught allegedly taking vaseline and two tubes of cortisone gel. Simon fled the business before police arrived, but was found quickly at his house on the 1900 block of Pineburr.
Simon was arrested and charged with theft and for an outstanding Lufkin warrant.
Several hours later, at around 2:00 p.m., workers tried to stop a man and woman who allegedly left the business without paying for merchandise. The suspects were located by authorities on the 800 block of North Timberland Drive and arrested for theft. Kimesha Houston and her partner, who was not named, are accused of taking nine DVDs.
The third alleged crime did not go over as smoothly for store employees.
Shortly before 4 p.m., the workers once against tried to stop a woman from allegedly stealing from the Dollar General. This time however, the suspect, Tishannah Ross, 31, hit one employee in the face and pushed the other into a door and left the scene in a truck. They were able to take the woman's purse and recover cosmetics that had been taken.
Lufkin police officers found the suspected vehicle on Paul Avenue near Medford Drive and arrested Ross for robbery. She was booked into the Angelina County Jail for robbery and for a Polk County arrest warrant for assault.
