BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — The City-Parish has signed a letter of intent to buy the former Woman's Hospital located on Airline Hwy. The property comes with a $10 million price tag.
City officials tell NBC33 News the location would be used as a public safety complex, which means it could be the new home of the Baton Rouge Police Department, which is currently located in downtown Baton Rouge. However, we're told it will not house any prisoners.
The proposed purchase will be taken up at next week's Metro Council meeting.
Mayor-President Kip Holden says officials are still looking for a way to pay for the complex.
