Baton Rouge, LA (NBC33) — Authorities say one suspect, Ronald Dunnagan of Bossier City, is now in custody in reference to a cold case murder that took place in Baton Rouge 28 years ago. Police are still awaiting the arrival of 47-year old Leila Mulla of Astoria, New York.
The two will be charged in the 1984 murder of Gary Kergan. Kergan, a local businessman, was last seen alive at Mulla's north Baton Rouge home on November 29, 1984.
This is the first case to be solved by BRPD’s new cold case unit. NBC33 has been told DNA evidence was key in solving the crime.
