NEW ORLEANS, LA (NBC33) — A New Orleans man is wanted by police for allegedly shooting his ex-girlfriend several times as well as killing her mother.
The New Orleans Police Department reports that the incident occurred on Monday, Dec. 3 shortly after 10:00 p.m. we’re told the suspect, Keith Phillips, 22, was involved in an argument with his estranged girlfriend, Rensha Nix, 25, at a home located on the 6800 block of Parc Brittany. Nix reportedly called her mother, Tiesha Nix, 40, and asked her to come pick her up. She told her mother that she wanted to avoid a physical altercation with Phillips.
When Tiesha Nix arrived to the home, she noticed her daughter and Phillips arguing. Then, officials say Phillips pulled out a gun and shot Tiesha once in the head, killing her instantly. He then turned his attention back to his former girlfriend and fired the gun several times.
Rensha was rushed to a local hospital where she is currently listed in critical condition.
Phillips managed to escape the scene on foot before police could arrive. He has been previously arrested for Simple Battery, Domestic Violence, Illegal Carrying of Weapons, and driving under a suspended license.
