Walker, La — An accident in Walker yesterday resulted in damage to a business on Walker South Road. The incident occurred when a dump truck, operated by Mohan Lawrence, 47, of Kissimmee Florida, broke down at Swifty’s Chevron in Walker.
A mechanic summoned by Lawrence to fix the broken down truck, had to raise the dump bed of the truck in order to make the needed repairs, reported Walker Police Chief Marliam Lee.
“Once the repairs were made, Mr. Lawrence attempted to leave, forgetting that the dump bed was still in the raised position,” said Lee. “The dump bed struck the canopy above the fuel pumps, causing damage to a portion of the structure.”
The fuel pumps were shut down briefly while the debris was cleared and the area was found to be safe.
An accident of this type is unfortunate, but we are all thankful that nobody was injured,” Chief Lee stated. Lawrence was not charged in connection with the incident.
