BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — The Southern Jaguars hope to have their new head coach locked sooner rather than later.
Southern athletic director William Broussard told me today he hopes to narrow a list of about 75-100 applicants down to 12 by Monday, December 3rd.
Interim head coach Dawson Odums is one of the many who want the Southern gig. He has officially applied for the job.
Odums led the Jags to their first Bayou Classic win since 2007.
Broussard hasn’t been on the job a year yet but says he realizes the importance of this hire and what it could mean for the program.
The top 12 candidates will go through a phone interview. The top 5 or 6 will be brought to campus for a more extensive interview.
