ZACHARY, LA (NBC33) — A family from Zachary lost everything, including four pets, when their home caught fire. Now, an account has been set up in their name for those wishing to make a donation to help them rebuild and recover.
The Sutton family heard what sounded like a lightning strike on Tuesday morning . Moments later, the home on Jay Cox road was up in flames.
“One of the neighbors saw the smoke coming out, and I woke up to banging on the door,” David Sutton said. “I tried to put it out.”
Although all four members of the family made it out alive, the family pets did not.
“I couldn't get the two of our dogs and two of our cats. We lost just about everything.”
Since airing their story on NBC33 News, community members have reached out asking for ways they can help. An account has been set up at Chase Bank. If you would like to make a donation, all you have to do is go to any Chase location and tell them it’s for the Sutton Family account.
Zachary fire investigators say that lightning may be to blame for the fire, but as for the possible explosion, that's still under investigation.
