NBC News — Israeli troops are still present along the border with Gaza despite an apparent ceasefire. An Egyptian brokered truce this week ended eight days of airstrikes and rocket fire between Israel and Palestinian militants in Gaza. Vague language in the agreement and hostility between the two sides make it far from certain the truce will continue to hold.
Children in southern Israel returned to school friday. Meanwhile in Jerusalem, Israeli police limited the age of people allowed to enter friday prayers. Security forces set up a check-point and checked worshippers passing through. More than 160 Palestinians and five Israelis were killed in the recent Israeli offensive in Gaza.
