EUNICE, LA — A woman has been arrested for writing a check from a closed bank account in Eunice.
On October 6, 2012 a female went shopping at a business in the 1400 block of East Laurel Avenue. The cashier then checked out the female customer and her total was $1428.68.
The female customer then wrote a check for the total amount due but the cashier asked to see her drivers license. The female then provided a number but the cashier demanded to see the drivers license. The female, later identified as Jessica Thomas, 27, was reluctant to show her drivers license but went ahead and handed it over.
The cashier then verified and compared the information on the check to the drivers license to complete the sale. A few days later the check was returned to the business because the checking account was closed.
A complaint was then filed and an investigation began. After the investigation a warrant for the arrest of Thomas was obtained for felony theft. On Monday November 19, she turned herself in to Eunice PD and was booked.
Thomas of Carencro, La, was charged with Felony Theft.
