BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Baton Rouge Firefighters are investigating what sparked a fire at an area bakery. They say it happened just before 3:00 Sunday morning at Baum's Fine Pastries located in the 8,000 block of Florida Boulevard.
The cause of this fire is still under investigation. However, investigators believe the fire began in or around a walk-in storage cooler located at the rear of the building. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the area of the cooler. They were able to contain most fire damage to the cooler, although room where most of the baking is done did receive minor fire damage to the ceiling above a window. The rest of the business sustained light to extensive smoke and water damage.
