BATON ROUGE,LA (NBC33) — The search for 2 missing platform workers continues Saturday.
Coast Guard crews resumed work around four am Saturday morning looking for two people missing after a platform fire in the Gulf of Mexico 20 miles Southeast of Grand Isle.
Four crew members suffered severe burns and are being treated at the Baton Rouge General Mid-City Burn Center.
Doctors there say two of those patients are in critical condition the other two are in serious but stable condition. They say they'll continue to monitor the patients over the next 48 to 72 hours.
"We will focus on stabilization of the patients airways replacing fluids that have been lost due to the burn injuries and local wound care with antibacterial dressing to combat potential infections," said Dr. Jeffrey Little, burn surgeon.
Doctors say the four patients families are in the Philippines, and they are working with the Grand Isle shipyard to get in contact with the families.
