BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Students at the Runnel’s School were eager to learn about the city government this morning from Mayor Kip Holden.
Second through eighth graders at the Runnels school got an inside look at what it’s like to be the Mayor of Baton Rouge. Students’ hands shot to the sky with questions for the mayor. They asked questions about what a mayor does and how the city government works. The students think that it’s good to learn about the government at an early age.
"Because one day were going to be voters of this state and I think it’s important to learn about that now so when we get older we all know about it," Anna Claire Pousson, 8th grade student at Runnel’s, said.
Mayor Holden says he enjoys speaking with students in the area because they are the leaders of the future.
