NBC News — Thousands of Jordanians protested against the government's hiking of fuel and gas prices in the capital Amman friday. The protests first erupted on tuesday and are the largest to hit the country since the start of uprisings in the region nearly two years ago.
Since tuesday, 157 protesters, including two Syrian refugees, have been arrested for street violence. Jordan is ruled by King Abdullah II who has absolute power over the country.
