BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Hundreds of people of people are keeping up with a little Kemmer Cur rescue dog's recovery on Facebook. 'Peanut' barely survived an Election Day house fire in Baton Rouge after jumping out of the home's second story window.
According to a facebook page dedicated to the injured dog, Peanut's family has been required to pay for veterinary care in advance. Peanut has 2nd and 3rd degree burns over half her body.
She is currently on a feeding tube and hasn't eaten since the fire and is currently receiving treatment which has included dialysis due to acute renal failure and a blood transfusion to control the edema.
Donations for her medical care are no longer being accepted through the LSU foundation. Instead, any contributions can be made through another website set up by Blank family.
The family who lost everything in that fire including Peanut's little sister says it's going to be a long road to recovery.
