Assumption Parish, La (NBC33) — People living yards away from a massive sinkhole in Assumption Parish have been urged to get in home testing for natural gas.
Scientist warned residents at a community meeting there is a chance natural gas could seep through slabs underneath their homes.
Two of the four vent wells in the area are set to flair gas by the end of the day, according to parish officials. It's just one step in figuring out how much natural gas is beneath the surface.
They say the next big piece to the puzzle will be analyzing seismic images of inside the failed Texas Brine cavern.
