BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Derek Burns, arrested for allegedly forging misdemeanor summons while working as an officer with the Baton Rouge Police Department, was officially fired Friday. The firing came after a pre-termination meeting with Chief Dewayne White. Burns’ termination stems from the ongoing investigation in to the forged misdemeanor summons.
Burns is facing charges of malfeasance in office, forgery and injuring public records. He was originally arrested in September and then again at the end of October. During that period he was on paid administrative leave.
