NEW ORLEANS, LA (WDSU) — Fourteen vehicles' tires were damaged on Interstate 10 Thursday after debris on the roadway blew out 26 tires, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development said.
The cars were sidelined just before the Orleans Avenue exit.
The interstate was brought down to one lane as crews worked to remove the stranded vehicles.
According to the DOTD's Twitter account, as of 4 p.m., all lanes were opened at Orleans Avenue and congestion reached Poydras on I-10 East and the Crescent City Connection bridge on US 90B East.
No injuries were reported.
DOTD said the metal debris came from a truck that lost part of its load.
