PARKS, LA (NBC33) — A father was arrested in St. Martin Parish after a marijuana cultivation lab was located in the home he shared with his wife and small child.
The St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that the Narcotics Division received a tip that marijuana was being grown at a home located on LaFreniere Road in Parks. Agents investigated the claim on Wednesday, Nov. 7.
Officials say the suspect, Kory Melancon, 24, lives at the residence with his wife and young child. We’re told they searched the home and located a large amount of high grade marijuana, a handgun and large amounts of cash.
All of the contraband was seized. The lab has an estimated street value of $5,000, the marijuana at $30,000, and there was $3,340 in cash.
Melancon was arrested and charged with Manufacturing of Schedule I C.D.S. (marijuana), Operation of a Clandestine Laboratory for the Unlawful Manufacture of a Controlled Dangerous Substance. Illegal Carrying of a Weapon, Illegal Use of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in the Presence of a Minor, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center.
