PORT ALLEN, LA (NBC33) — The streets of Downtown Port Allen filled with red white and blue Sunday afternoon.
It's all part of the 8th annual Veterans on Parade event. Veterans got the chance to ride on floats, while the crowd caught beads and shouted thanks to the servicemen and women.
The event is held every year the Sunday before Veterans Day to support our vets.
Veterans say it one day they look forward to every year.
"A lot of fun to see people come by and enjoy themselves," said World War II Veteran William Coleman. "It brings back memories of back when I was young. I was on the ship in the south pacific in World War II."
The event features a float contest. Veterans rode in the parade for free.
